Meeting a Client at the Airport? 4 Reasons to Hire a Taxi Rather than Driving Yourself

Posted on

When a potential client is flying into your neck of the woods to do some business, you want to make sure everything goes right from the second you meet them at the airport. Your first instinct might be to drive them back to your office or their hotel yourself, but it's actually a better idea to hire a taxi in advance and ride back with them.

Here are just four reasons why.

1. Time to Talk

It's probably the first time you're meeting this person face to face, so you'll want time to talk – that could be anything from social getting-to-know-you talk to something concerning your business. With that in mind, it's better to hire someone else to do the driving for you. Instead of having to divide your time between all the tasks necessary while driving and talking to your client, you'll be able to focus solely on the latter.

2. Added Assistance

When your client arrives at the airport, they're probably going to be in need of a little rest – after all, even a short flight can be tiring. As such, they're going to appreciate not having to carry around their own bags or look for a trolley, but carrying everything yourself might make it hard to get to know each other, especially if they have a lot with them. When you hire a taxi, you can let the driver take care of the luggage and guide you where you need to go. There's no need for you or your client to do anything.

3. No Pressure

Maybe you're usually a perfectly confident driver, but things can change when you're under the pressure of driving around a valuable client. Keep in mind that everything you do at the outset of the relationship is going to have an impact. If you make a mistake changing lanes or ever have to slam on the brakes, they probably aren't going to be impressed. A professional taxi driver will be completely unfazed and will not make such mistakes.

4. Air of Professionalism

Finally, there's simply something more professional about having a taxi ready and waiting to go when your client steps off the plane. It lets them know that you value their presence and that you aren't trying to cut corners. You can even specify a high-end vehicle from your taxi firm to ensure the vehicle itself meets the highest expectations. This might not sound like a big deal, but you should make sure everything goes into making a good impression.
